Sports / Remedial Massage

Specific massage to reduce pain & muscle tension, improve range of movement, boost mobility & circulation. It usually concentrates on one / two areas of the body, using specialised techniques, designed to stretch & release muscular tissue, increasing blood & lymph flow, relieving pain & swelling whilst improving movement. Medical acupuncture is used in conjunction with massage techniques, to stimulate nerves under the skin & in the muscles, encouraging the body to release pain-relieving endorphins. This massage therapy is ideal for treatment & prevention of injuries, plus helps with rehabilitation (breaking down adhesions, leading to faster healing), improved muscle suppleness & flexibility.  I am ITEC Level 5 rated  (highest Sports Massage qualification).

Traditional Massage Therapy

Relaxing & beneficial to all.  This gentle form of massage uses long strokes, kneading & deep circular movements to relax & reinvigorate.  Perfect for those looking for a restorative massage with a lighter touch.

Pregnancy Massage

A therapy benefiting both mother & unborn baby.  Pregnancy puts pressure on joints, ligaments & organs, but  evidence shows how specialised massage can relieve aches & pains, stimulate circulation (ensuring essential nutrients & fluids are distributed to vital organs), lower blood pressure & even help avoid varicose veins forming.  It’s also highly effective for reducing stress, releasing feel good endorphins which are passed to the baby.   Regular massage whilst pregnant can make the mother more aware of her body, aiding her ability to relax during first stage of labour, often resulting in shorter and easier births.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

MLD is a powerful cleansing, relaxing, pain-relieving massage which is gentle, flowing and rhythmic.  Primarily used to promote optimal functioning of lymphatic vessels leading to the circulatory system, it relaxes the nervous system.  The gentle movements facilitate removal of metabolic wastes, excess water, toxins, bacteria, large protein molecules and foreign substances from tissue, reducing pain and enhancing the immune system.  It is effective in the treatment of a wide variety of issues including oedema, headache, sinus congestion, stress and before and after surgery to remove tissue congestion and minimise scar formation.  It is particularly useful as part of a post-mastectomy therapy to reduce oedema and fibrosis, and helps relieve pain and tension.
